From the arabic wisdom i have chosen this story for you to illustrate that you can win by action rather than argument.
In the 13th century. There was a very powerful king who is very strict. His server served him for about 30 years and he had always the admiration from the king for his loyalty and trustfullness. His honesty had made himmany enemies whose first concern is that the king kill him. They started telling the king that his closest server is untrustworthy, dishonest and is looking for killing the king. Days later, the king believed what he used to hear about the weak server and ordered that the server be tied up and thrown to his fiercest dogs. The server asked the king to give him ten days to pay his debts, to collect my money due to me from peopleand to look for someone to care about my family after my death. The king said "ok" after he got guarantees from him that he won't ecape. The server ran quickly home and brought 100 pieces of gold and walked directly toward the man who looks after the dog's of the king. He proposed on him the 100 gold pieces and said "Let me take care of the sultan's dogs for ten days only". The guardian couldn't say no in front of gold pieces. for those 10 days, the server took care of the dogs, feeding them carefully, and giving great attention to them. The ten days ended and the king ordered his men to bring him for punsihment as agreed, they tied up his feet and given to dogs. When the fiercest dogs saw him they become very gentle, approached him moving their tails from right to left, thouching him softly,...The sultan and the guests were amazed and ordered his men to bring the server in front of him. He asked "Why the dogs didn't attack you?" The server responded : "I have looked after these dogs for ten days only, and you see clearly how they treat me. I have looked after you for 30 years!! and what is the result? I am condemned to death because of false rumors you heard on me". The sultan felt very sorry and punished his enemies.
From this story it is very clear the power of acting over giving arguments. If the king's server kept talking, arguing and even swearing. The king finally would not believe him and will die. But since he took action and demonstrated to him that a person who was honest since 30 years would not be dishonest at the end.
When you try to prove a point or gain a victory or sell a product ... through talking and giving arguments, you will never be cerain how it affects the people you are arguing with: They may appear to agree with you politly or just moving heads up and down. You may say something that will be perceived as an offence to your listners. You can't know their character and their behaviour to some situations. Even the best argument has no solid foundation, even days after agriying with someone we can disagree with him the next day because our brain is not 100 % logical but also is judging by desire and emotions also.
Understand that everyone knows that anyone when arguing he will say anything to support his cause. He will use statistics and use history and use all kinds of arguments. But who can be persuaded by bags of air. Action and demonstration are much more powerful and meaningful. They are tangible, in front of our eyes. This way there are no offensive words, no possibility of misinterpretation. If what you want to say is demonstrated then you don't need to say a word.
In Great Britain, there was a Mayor who recruited an architect to build his office. He did his job but the mayor was very nervous and asked the architecht to add two stone columns for extra support. The architect said "It would add nothing to add the two extra column but if it would make you more comfortable it is fine for me". He didn't argue and started explaining technical stuff to the Mayor but instead he did what he asked for and added the two column support as requested. Some months later, the building maintenance agents have discovered that the two supports didn't actually touch the ceilling as if they are unecessary. This way the Mayor had been convinced that the architect is really a genius man mastering his field.
The power of demonstrating your idea is that your opponents don't get defensive. And therfore they are more open to persuation. You should prepare them to literally and physically feel your meaning not hear some words.
If you want to sell a product, you should be able to convince your customer to buy it. Keeping talking about it won't push you quickly to buy but if instead you present a demo of it. Your customers will be more convinced that this is what they look for and this is what they want to buy.
The rule is : Don't argue too much, it is much more powerful to get others to agree with you through your actions, without saying a word. Demonstrate not explicate.
